Domestic Helper Agent - Good Domestic Helper Agent Equally Protects All Parties

By Alice Sy

When a domestic helper agent chooses a side, someone ends up being happier or bitter. Employers can be wrong and so can a domestic helper but there's always the right side where the helper agent should be at all times even if no one is there.

Treating domestic helpers like regular employees should be standard. Domestic helpers don't have the perfect job. Most share the same goal of improving their struggling family life back home, even if it takes working in a foreign land. That doesn't mean compassion is a requirement to deal with helpers, but respect is. Every job is crucial and that doesn't make any kind of employee any less.

The domestic helper agent should fulfill what expectations they promised the employer. Whether it's about maid replacement or ensuring the maid is as efficient as promised, the domestic agency should take into account that employers can be victims too of problematic maids and unfulfilled promises. Be truthful to the employers from start to finish and ensure they are getting what their money's worth, including protection and warranty.

In a case of trouble, the role of the helper agent is to follow the right path. Determining who's at fault is not the main course of action but to provide a solution to either any of the aggrieved party. Being a counselor to save the relationship as much as possible helps and sometimes if cases are worse, creating a new partnership to replace the old may be the recourse.

The best practice for the domestic helper agent to avoid any cases of grievance from any party is to practice diligence and match maids to employers righteously after a thorough assessment to at least minimize the risk of complaints and worse pre-termination of contract. Everyone just wants a better life out of this and for the agent, they have the chance to ensure it's a better future.
